The NeatDesk is a compact, receipt-scanner. Can't you just use your existing scanner? Yes, you can but the NeatDesk comes with some slick software that automatically finds and inputs dates and amounts. It's not clear if the software can also detect where the purchase was made and then categorize the purchases, but it sounds like it would certainly make your life easier.
Implications - With so much emphasis on size, the tech industry is going small with many of their products. The convenience and the space-saving capabilities of these items are a dream come true for consumers who are tired of the bulkier/heavier predecessors that leave very little room to enjoy other things. As electronics continue to shrink, the industry is allowing shoppers to live comfortably with miniature tech products that are portable and capable of high performance.
