Smart shoes may sound like a fairly recent innovation but Puma's RS-Computer shoes were the first and are now being revived for a more modern era. Launching with a similar color scheme and iconic heel hump, the revived smart sneaker will now feature modern fitness-tracking technology. This includes a three-axis accelerometer to measure calorie burn, and a distance and step counter. The data measured by the RS-Computer can then be sent to an Android or iOS app -- albeit one that takes inspiration from the original 8-bit software.
Collectors hoping to get their hands on the RS-Computer shoe will have to be fairly quick as Puma is making just 86 pairs available worldwide. The show will be sold primarily through the Puma website, but will also be available at certain retail stores in Berlin, London, and Tokyo.
