A day of catamaran fun at the RIU Punta Cana

It was Day 3 at the RIU Punta Cana and I gently awoke without an alarm and gazed out at the ocean. The warm sun and the sand on my feet were finally starting to permeate my being. My first move wasn’t to check my email, but rather sit out on my terrace with a cup of fresh java and ponder the beauty of the ocean. (Note to self: book vacations more often!)
Today’s planned activity was a catamaran trip. As much as I longed to plan nothing, there was simply too many amazing activities that I wanted to experience as well. Sailing along, the fresh morning breezes were fantastic. The Caribbean sun was starting to heat up. And as it did, so did the energy on the boat. The captain turned up the beats with a mix of reggae, dance and reggaeton that seemed aptly suited to the locale. About half an hour later, we arrived at our destination and anchored the boat in a stunning bay. The warm turquoise waters were magnificent and it was the perfect spot to begin our snorkeling adventure. The fish were breathtaking and I floated around for what seemed like hours enjoying the peacefulness of the bay.
As the day wore on, more boats arrived and the energy in the bay starting ramping up further along with the volume. The heat of the afternoon was upon us and a cool cocktail seemed like a splendid idea. Fortunately, our boat had set up a floating bar for just this type of scenario (yes, you read that correctly, a bar floating in the ocean...brilliant!). As I sipped on my beverage, I made a mental note to get back to the D.R. more often.
As the afternoon faded away, we eventually made our way back to the hotel. Not to rush, but I had a massage appointment back at the RIU Republica that I did not want to miss. Thankfully, we made it in time and I’m grateful that we did. Any worries I may have still been clinging onto melted away. If only I had more time here.
To finish our day, we had a wonderful Italian dinner paired with “vino tinto” followed by some decadent tiramisu. From there, we strolled across the property to catch the live performance - an energetic mix of song, dance and acrobatics. All in all, a fantastic trip, and I left knowing that there was so much more left to discover. Until next time, thank you, Punta Cana, and thank you, RIU Republica and Signature Vacations.
