As a nine-year-old, I was already kind of creeped out by some of the Pokemon monsters, but after seeing Gavin Mackey’s interpretation of the legendary creatures, my whole childhood has changed. Eevee no longer seems cute, and I'm not tempted to hug and put Togepi in my pocket anymore. These revamped Pokémon paintings replace your images of lovable collectable creatures and remind you that they are fully fledged monsters with abilities to kill.
Gavin Mackey, an artist from California, has digitally altered over 20 Pokémon, mostly from the original 151. These are unlike anything you saw on the show, the cards, or the video games. The art is highly detailed, making the monsters seem more powerful than ever -- some of them are, quite frankly, pretty horrifying.
