The Revalue Nippon Project Revitalizes Japanese Craft Traditions
Meghan Young — November 25, 2010 — Art & Design
The Revalue Nippon Project has to be one of the first art initiatives started by a soccer player. Founded by Japanese football and fashion icon Nakata Hidetoshi, it hopes to revitalize Japanese craft traditions.
Essentially, the Revalue Nippon Project centers around five chosen curators, whose task is to pair up with a ceramicist and one artist or designer in order to create an original piece of art. The ceramic speaker you see above is the work of curator Akimoto Yuji, Nendo and potter Mitsuke Masagasu.
