Fast Company, the award-winning journalism hub, has announced its most recent onboarded employees were the product of a resume-free hiring strategy. Fast Company found that it needed to hire six skilled employees during the "Great Resignation," which proved to be difficult. While the company did post its job openings through conventional means, such as Indeed and LinkedIn, where it found more success was in online communities.
When hiring these six workers, Fast Company did not demand resumes from applicants. Instead, the brand went to its previous connections, to discord communities, and to other online communities with its job posting. The staff in charge of hiring at Fast Company would simply be transparent about the job expectations and compensations, and this led to many high-quality applicants fairly quickly.
Fast Company found that this method of hiring is more inclusive than peering at resumes since resumes often boast about high-profile universities or past jobs, which not everyone in society has access to. The journalism hub effectively gained a more talented workforce and a more diverse workforce in one fell swoop by eliminating the need for resumes and traditional hiring methods.
