London Design Week is packed with mesmerizing concepts and projects like the Reddress by Aamu Song. The giant rouge dress is a fashionable art installation that accommodates 238 people in its pockets.
Finnish artist Aamu Song along with his creative team manufactured this elaborate piece to “create the ultimate relationship between an audience and a vocal musician by connecting them with something other than just music,” explains the creator. Part of the permanent collection of the Design Museum, Helsinki, Finland, the Reddress is usually presented along with a performer who climbs up a 1.5 meter staircase located inside the dress. This combination of music with art enhances the experience and make people appreciate aesthetics differently.
For its elaboration more than 550 Kvadrat’s classic Divina wool fabric was used, reaching 20 meters in diameter and three in height. At the moment, the gown is presented in York Hall in London, and visitors are invited to jump into the pockets and enjoy a good cultural time.
