'United Sciences' recently developed a new type of earbuds that can measure and record biometric data. While there are a number of companies working on earbuds that perform smart functions, none are designed to fit as well as the 'Aware' earbuds.
United Sciences already specializes in non-invasive 3D-scanning and now it is applying the same technology to a pair of commercial earbuds. This means that customers will be able to have their ears scanned first in order to ensure perfect fitting earbuds. Beyond a comfortable fit, the Aware earbuds are also capable of recording biometric data such as heart rate, steps, distance traveled and calories burned. The earbuds are even capable of measuring the user's brain waves via an electro-encephalogram. All of this information is then sent to the user's smartphone so that they can track their data over time.
While not everyone may want to track their brainwaves, the information can be valuable for those who are interested in measuring concentration, sleep and stress levels.
