While I find this work sad and the love of dead animals disturbing in general, I am not calling the artists idiots. Idiots is in fact the artistic duo Afke Golsteijn and Floris Bakker.
According to Bakker and Golsteijn, their work is characterized by the use of "...animal material carefully patched up and put into significant positions, combined with rich materials such as embroidery, pearls and gold."
Their work is unquestionably stunning, but I have to say that it glorifies the art of taxidermy a bit too much for my taste as an avid animal lover. However, even I can appreciate the strength of their pieces, although they make me sad.
