Itch.io, the online platform for indie game developers and digital project creators, launched the 'Queer Games Bundle' to support LGBTQ+ creators on its platform. The bundle is comprised of over 500 games, software, zines, and downloadable game guides created by over 400 queer artists across the platform. It is important to note that each artist signed up to participate in this bundle, though not every artist opted to receive funds from the proceeds.
The proceeds gained from the Queer Games Bundle, which currently totals $54,687.70 with a total goal of $112,627.04, will be split evenly amongst creators who opted to receive funding. The bundle itself is priced at $60 USD, the price of a single AAA gaming title from a major developer. In this sense, the platform is challenging customers to spend the price of a single mainstream game on over 500 indie games for a good cause.
