Public Records recently unveiled a new lounge and bar on the upper floor of the Brooklyn-based creative hub. Co-owner, Creative Director and Designer Shane Davis is the visionary behind UPSTAIRS and wanted the space to highlight DIY and handcrafted elements. He brought this theme to life with objects and furniture that were designed and constructed on-site or locally, building each piece himself or with the help of friends.
Public Records' UPSTAIRS extension is situated inside an industrial brick building, featuring a cafe and record store, a plant-based bar and restaurant, an outdoor garden, and a Sound Room to host live performances.
Davis states that "We felt that people would value a space that inspires more intimate connection than our other spaces. This framework then provides opportunities to explore our ideas and showcase those of our collaborators on various scales, whether it be a sound system, a chair, an event series, or a cocktail."
