Ideum, a multi-touch hardware and software company located in New Mexico, has launched the 4K UHD Pro Lab multi-touch table. This versatile, expandable and rapid device is used via a 3D LED LCD touch display that boasts an impressive resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels and sits atop a computer-embedded pedestal that offers a ridiculous 24 terabytes of removable storage.
The Pro Lab is designed for interactive museum exhibits, computer gaming and processor capacity-sapping applications involving visualizations and simulations. The device is an improvement over its predecessor the Pro model in that it has a new 55-inch projected capacitive touch screen that isn't subject to light interference, can support up to 100 simultaneous touch points and has a response time of 5 milliseconds.
This high-tech device is pretty reasonably priced at $24,000 -- given what it can do -- and could become a fixture in public places such as museums in the near future.
