'Amazon Pharmacy' Has Launched a Prescription Drug Discount Card
Colin Smith — March 11, 2022 — Business
'Amazon Pharmacy' has partnered with a variety of insurance providers to launch a prescription drug discount card for its services. Currently, this discount card is available in five states: New Jersey, Nebraska, Alabama, Florida, and Kansas. This selective availability is a result of Amazon Pharmacy's partnership with the 'Blue Cross Blue Shield' insurance provider.
Amazon Pharmacy has stated that this discount card will apply to a wide variety of prescription drugs. This decision was made because of the dilemma that many insurance providers forcing customers to choose between a cheaper drug that is covered by the plan or a more expensive drug that is only partly covered or not covered at all. With this new discount card, Amazon is furthering its venture into the healthcare and telehealth industry. Previous ventures into this industry include the brand's telehealth program, and its variety of health-focused features on its smart assistant, Alexa.
