Portuguese architecture firm M-Arquitectos introduce the 'Casa en Praia dos Santos,' a stunning property located in Ponta Delgada, Portugal.
The architects had to accommodate for a construction site wall, which they built around, creating an interesting juxtaposition between the old and new. Amidst the wreckage and destruction of the area, this contemporary residence feels and looks like a breath of fresh air. This was exactly the goal, as the project is intended to encourage new construction in the area.
The entire top floor is dedicated to private rooms of the house, leaving room for reflection and contemplation (not to mention the sea views), while the ground floor is designed for social interaction amongst residents and guests. Interior materials, such as basalt stone, were chosen specifically to be reflective of the land the home is built upon.
