Audi and Porsche Announced Intentions to Join F1 with Third-Party Cars

Volkswagen's CEO Herbert Diess announced the automaker's intentions to enter the Formula One (F1) racing league with Porsche F1 and Audi F1 cars, respectively. The automaker outlined that these ventures will take quite some time, so it informed the public not to expect Porsche or Audi competitors in this season or the next, at the least. Currently, Diess noted that it is more likely that Porsche will enter the league than Audi, though there are plans for both.
Volkswagen is seeking prospective partners in order to secure the two luxury brands' participation in the racing league. Diess stated that Audi is looking to work with McClaren, while Porsche will work with Red Bull. Should these partnerships go through, the F1 vehicles from both Audi and Porsche will be co-created.
