Projekt Praga Adorn Syrena Irena with Playful Motifs
Kalin Ned — June 30, 2022 — Art & Design
Syrena Irena is a Polish bistro in the center of Warsaw that specializes in traditional pierogi dumplings. Located in a building from the 1950s, the interior recently got a revamp by local architecture firm Projekt Praga. The results are stunning as the studio decided to combine "modern and mid-century features" with adorable illustrations and artworks. This aesthetic direction "pays homage to both the building's architecture and the bistro's nostalgic menu."
The Polish bistro now features various modern dining establishment details—from terrazzo-style tabletops and neon signs to eye-catching mosaic tiles. During the facelift, Projekt Praga shared that it intentionally emphasized materials, shapes, and approaches that date back to the country's communist era. With subtle splashes of color and whimsical illustration, the Polish bistro is definitely an experience.
