Architect Grzegorz Layer works on a renovation project with elevated features that update a home that was originally built in the 70s. It is located in Katowice, Poland, and is updated with modern looks due to the open-plan layout celebrating the classic design themes of the 70s and its Polish modernism.
The home undergoes a range of changes at the structural foundation as a new staircase is integrated and the entire ground floor is lowered. The walls are entirely removed to create the aforementioned open concept but the result is a spacious floorplan that opens up for versatile interior design. The only spaces that are enclosed on the ground floor are the pantry and bathroom as the dining, living, and kitchen are expansive and connected.
