In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the iconic Pokemon trading cards, Japan's Tanaka Jewelry is creating a limited-edition Pokemon Pikachu card in a precious metal.
The design of the pure gold Pokemon Pikachu card is styled in the design in which the first Pokemon expansion pack was launched back in 1996. As such, the anime monster is illustrated in a charming retro style that will appeal to those who originally played the trading card game, as well as those who newly became interested in the franchise through the extremely popular augmented reality Pokemon Go game.
This 11-gram limited-edition collectible card will make it into the hands of few Pokemon fans, as each one retails for about ¥200,000 or $1,500.
