PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection Nods to the First Console

Sony's PlayStation 30th anniversary collection is essentially a celebration of its roots, bringing attention to how it started and showcasing how far its come. It features special variations of the PlayStation 5 Pro and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition that all celebrate the original PlayStation. These are all designed with the classic grey that was first seen in 1994 as a nod to its history. It is also notably detailed with the iconic PlayStation logo in four colors.
The CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment's Platform Business Group, Hideaki Nishino shares the design journey. He states, “We’ve had five fantastic console generations since the launch of our very first PlayStation console. We’re proud of the innovations and experiences we’ve brought to the PlayStation community over the years as we kept up with the latest technology as it advanced." Nishino brings attention to the change in audio and visual which brings 300,000 pixels to 4K resolution, and from stereo to 3D audio.
