California design studio PlayLab Inc works together with footwear imprint Vans to create a large pyramid art structure which is also a skate ramp. It is located in Downtown Los Angeles and has a bright yellow look nestled between two buildings by the LA River. This is a part of the city's art week and it was all made possible with the help of American artist Sterling Ruby to honor the launch of his 'Clash the Wall' shoe for Vans.
Co-founder of PlayLab, Archie Lee Coates IV speaks about the project to Dezeen, stating "We wanted to take an iconic form in skate culture, the hill, and interpret it into a surreal sculpture. At the center of the installation is a pyramid, split and shifted to create angles and edges for skaters to play off of. This pyramid is placed within a massive cyc wall, which serves both as a skate feature and an immersive visual color field."
