The New SlimStyle LED Philips Bulb Will Phase Out Incandescents
Laura McQuarrie — December 18, 2013 — Art & Design
The 'SlimStyle' is a new Philips bulb that looks a lot like a classic incandescent light bulb that's been squashed. It's comparable to the power of a 60-watt incandescent, but it uses an LED that uses a mere 10.5 watts. Plus, it has a lifetime of about 22 years, which should seriously cut down on the number of times bulbs need to be changed.
Just like any other lightbulb, it fits into standard sockets. From the front, it looks like a regular bulb, but in profile is where you can really see why it's been named the 'SlimStyle.'
LED lights like these will become more popular in the coming years, as they come down in price and especially when it will become illegal to import or manufacture 40 and 60 watt incandescent bulbs, starting January 1st.
