Writing in a journal can be pretty therapeutic, but the Onion Note is a personal notebook that is sure to make you cry. Although it sounds like it could be gimmicky, the pages of the notebook have actually been treated with the same allyl propyl compounds that are found in onion oil, which is what causes people to cry when chopping up onions. But instead of cutting, the notebook is designed to make you cry when you write on its pages, since friction causes heat to be generated, which in turn causes the cry-inducing compound to release.
The strange notebook by manufacturer Magnus Ferreus doesn't yet have a release date, but there are a number of ads and a web page set up to show just how real the product is. If you feel like you've got some bottled up emotions, the Onion Note could prove to be quite useful.
