Parley & Soma are hoping to make a big impact on the reusable bottle space with a new line of water bottles made from glass and upcycled plastic taken from marine environments. Parley is perhaps best known for its collaboration with adidas, which introduced a pair of shoes made from ocean plastic. This new line of bottles from Parley & Soma will be made of BPA-free glass and will be wrapped in an ocean plastic sleeve. 90% of the sleeve will be made from the upcycled material, which is the equivalent of two plastic bottles.
The Parley & Soma water bottles will be part of a limited-edition run at over 5,000 Starbucks locations in the US and Canada. The bottles are lightweight, durable and hold 17 oz of liquid. The cap is made of natural bamboo and is both leak-proof and made from renewable resources.
