& Other Stories and Giorgia Lupi, an information designer, launched a ready-to-wear collection that features hand-drawn data visualizations that show off the work of remarkable women throughout history—Ada Lovelace "The Mathematician," Rachel Carson "The Conservationist" and Mae Jemison "The Astronaut." The data-inspired designs turn their achievements into wearable stories.
Three primary patterns were developed, one for each woman, and the unique prints were adapted in different ways to suit the needs of the garments and accessories. In the collaborative collection from H&M's sister brand, consumers will find everything from oversized puffer coats to turtleneck bodysuits and embroidered tulle dresses.
Each of the prints is not only visually compelling but holds a deeper meaning and symbolism—the design representing Mae Jemison, the first woman of color in space, is based on her orbits and experiments.
