Local design firm SoBA unveils the Orchestra Park design, which is a project that alters what was once a vacant urban lot in Kunshan, China. The yellow accents enliven the viewing platforms with play spaces and performance areas. The team drew inspiration from the area and its heritage of sizhu music, which is a traditional collection of string and wind instruments. The design results in curved flowing structures with an interactive music installation.
The founding partner of SoBA, Ruo Wang tells Dezeen, "The design carefully respects and preserves the natural landscape, including the mature trees and wetlands, while also addressing the local community's need for recreational space. We took inspiration from the shapes of Jiangnan sizhu or 'silk and bamboo' orchestra instruments, using their graceful curves and rhythm to guide the layout of the park."
