IKEA Unveiled a Collection for City-Dwellers in Small Spaces

IKEA unveiled its 'On The Move' collection of small space furniture for 2014 aimed at young city-dwellers. The company commissioned research that led to the discovery that one in five urban dwellers live in a space smaller than 30 square meters. IKEA UK and Ireland interior design manager Gemma Arranz said, “we were thinking about the needs of the young urban generations that often forgo space to follow their dreams in the big cities.”
The collection includes a small bureau, a very thin bench for tight hallways, small greenhouse plant holders and cabinets made to fit in corners. Many of the objects in the collections are multifunctional, like the a stool that can be used as a magazine rack, light or night nightstand.
