Verizon Business has teamed up with 5G technology company Celona to develop On Site 5G, a new solution aimed at simplifying the adoption of private 5G networks by small and medium-sized businesses.
In general, the new solution looks to tackle a common problem with 5G offerings: they are typically exclusively accessible -- and often only feasible -- for large enterprises and organizations such as universities, industrial complexes, and government-run installations. Thankfully, On Site 5G allows smaller organizations to build their own custom and private 5G networks while still utilizing the company's public 5G Ultra-Wideband (UW) network.
The new solution accomplishes this by utilizing Celona's 5G LAN product, which allows customers to deploy 5G networks that can tie directly to their already existing Wi-Fi networks. As a result, the new solution is able to simplify the 5G set-up while eliminating the coverage gaps typically affecting Wi-Fi networks.
