Samsung unveiled its ultra high-end gaming monitor, the 'Odyssey Ark.' This is a $3,500 USD monitor with never-before-seen features that cover every necessary feature a monitor could have. Firstly, the Ark is a 55-inch, heavily curved display. Samsung intends the user to sit close to the monitor to allow the device to curve around them as sort of a gaming pod. When seated in this position, many features on the monitor begin to pop out.
Firstly, the Ark boast a peak brightness of 2,000 nits as well as full HDR support for both games and movies. Additionally, the Ark has support for varying refresh rates between 60Hz up to 165Hz. On top of this, the immersion is upgraded through the use of six speakers built into the monitor, one in each corner and two in the center.
The Ark Odyssey allows for convenient cable management, as it features a single cable that connects to the monitor on one end and a hub box on the other. This hub features all necessary interface options, such as USB ports, HDMI ports, an ethernet port, and more.
One unique feature of the Ark Odyssey is that it can be used in portrait mode, allowing for the screen to be split into three subcategories that each act as a separate monitor. This means users can play a game while watching a video and monitoring a chat application, all conveniently and intuitively separated directly by the monitor.
