7-Eleven has teamed up with American robotics company Nuro to launch an autonomous delivery service in California. The companies will first launch a pilot run this month, offering commercial delivery to those residing in the Mountain View area. Customers will be able to make orders via the 7NOW delivery app and will have their selected products delivered by a Nuro robot -- in this case, an autonomous Prius.
Of course, this is not the first time that these two companies have worked together. In 2016 they teamed up to make a drone delivery to a customer's house in an effort to explore innovative new forms of retail service.
"We are pushing the boundaries of innovation even further to provide customers with the first commercial autonomous delivery service in California," said Raghu Mahadevan, 7-Eleven's chief digital officer, in a recent press statement.
