The NTT Docomo Darth Vader Ad Uses the Force to Sell Phones
Michael Hines — December 13, 2010 — Marketing
When Japanese cell phone company NTT DoCoMo lost out on the rights to sell the iPhone, they did the next best thing and hired Darth Vader to sell the Samsung Galaxy S. The NTT DoCoMo Darth Vader ads feature the famous Star Wars villain as the physical embodiment of the Galaxy S.
The NTT DoCoMo Darth Vader ad shows Darth Vader side-by-side with Galaxy S owners going everywhere from clubs to cafes. While the commercial is a little creepy at times, it is surprisingly effective. After all, who wouldn't want Darth Vader by their side at all times?
