Brazilian grocery chain Muffato has introduced its first automated store called Muffato Go. The store allows consumers to shop uninterrupted without interacting with queues, self-scanning, or physical checkout stations. By utilizing Sensei’s AI platform, shoppers can download the Muffato app, arrive at the store, pick up their items, and leave. Sensei's AI uses data from a network of sensors to track the things each consumer purchases and returns across the store.
Customers are immediately charged for their purchased items when they leave the store. The identity of Sensei's consumers are kept secret while they purchase as part of the company's privacy policy.
“Our new Muffato Go store is a huge step forward for Brazil's supermarket industry. Sensei's groundbreaking technology allows Muffato Group to deliver one of the world's most modern and innovative shopping experiences and frees more team members to help customers around the store,” said Everton Muffato, CEO of Muffato Group.
