Director Wes Anderson has released the trailer for his much-anticipated upcoming film Moonrise Kingdom, set to hit theaters in May 2012. The two-minute clip is the first trailer from the new film to hit the Internet, but provides a delightful view into the new world created by Anderson and co-writer Roman Coppola. The story of Moonrise Kingdom focuses on a New England summer camp in the 1960s, and two young lovers who run away from their summer vacation plans to be with each other. According to the trailer, the movie will remain faithful to Anderson's usual golden cinematography and dedication to symmetrical framing.
Moonrise Kingdom is the first of Anderson's films in which college friend and frequent collaborator Owen Wilson will not appear. The film will, however, star some of the other usual suspects characteristic of his films, including Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman, with Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand.
