The new Monos store location is nestled on Ossington Street in Toronto and the design is led by Ste Marie. It is defined by waxed plaster walls and rainbow onyx surfaces with an olive tree to bring some tranquil elements into the environment as well. The studio wanted to create an environment that was inspired by the Japanese concept of 'mono no aware.'
This is the appreciation of fleeting moments of beauty and Ste Marie ensured that this was used as a guide when forming the interior space. The firm notes, "The space invites guests to embark on a multi-sensory journey that connects them to moments of awe, discovery and the joy we crave with travel." Ste Marie adds, "This dreamlike space on Ossington, influenced by gentle surrealism and the cultural hospitality of Portugal's pousadas, is timeless and wistful."
