The Mola Bench is inspired by the nautical lifestyle. Growing up in the seaport city of Rijeka, Croatia, designer Andrija Večenaj has taken his experience of ships and seas and applied it to his passion of furniture making. Influenced by the fluid shape of waves and the wooden deck of boat hulls, he created the Mola Bench.
Sleek and modern with a rugged touch, the Mola Bench is quite reminiscent of a boat. The wooden planks form a solid surface to sit upon while a triangular-like slab of hollow concrete acts as the support. This detail gives the seat a floating catamaran-like aesthetic. Part bench, part lounger, it provides sloping leg rest that encourages two comfortable perches: lying and sitting. The Mola Bench can also be customized to fit any space.
