Rob Dobi is a Connecticut-based photographer who captures photos of modern American ruins, abandoned buildings and rooms to which the photographer was drawn due to a sense of mystery. Dobi captured the photographs after visiting abandoned spaces that he intentionally knew little or nothing about. He visited each building several times at different points of the day to experiment with the effects of natural light on details.
The modern American ruins depicted in these photographs convey an unsurprisingly haunted atmosphere, reminding the viewer that while these spaces are no longer occupied, they bear the energies of people who dwelled and worked in them in the past.
The spaces captured by Rob Dobi range from abandoned factories and classrooms to derelict hospitals, homes and even a once-grand auditorium that now sits in a state of disrepair.
