No AA batteries are necessary to maintain the glow of the Moblant Community Lantern, for this innovative handheld lamp has a rechargeable fuel cell that draws its power from three different places. Two means of juicing it up are sustainable ones that involve a passive daytime state and good old fashioned sharing.
A small solar panel in the top of the LED light draws in energy from the sun to keep the gadget alight through the night. This method is especially ideal for camping when electrical sources are scarce. However, a cable-charging option is available for inside the home.
Based on Andrea de Chirico's clever design, the Moblant Community Lantern can also be topped up by touching it to another charged illuminator of its type and acquiring energy by induction.
