Many paper food packaging designs have a thin plastic film that acts as a barrier to maintain freshness, so the MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB has been developed as an alternative that is eco-friendly and plastic-free.
Created for the food and food service industry, the packaging was made by Finland-based Metsä Board and is reported to have a solid resilience against moisture and grease. It's safe for direct food contact and is made using fresh fiber that has been sustainably sourced, and is also free from optical brighteners and fluorochemicals.
The MetsäBoard Prime FBB EB packaging was addressed by Business Development Director of Metsä Board (part of Metsä Grop) Katja Tuomola who said, "Paperboard packaging made from renewable materials is a sustainable choice, and with further development of the barrier properties of the paperboard we are now able to cater for a greater number of applications. Our new plastic-free eco-barrier paperboard provides many interesting opportunities for food and food service packaging as well as other end uses where barrier properties are needed.”
