Meta announced the opening of the 'Meta Store,' a physical retail location in Burlingame, California. Meta will use this location to showcase its current and future-facing virtual reality (VR) technology, such as the Meta Quest 2. The store will open on May 9th, 2022, and will showcase the existing Meta VR devices, such as the Ray-Ban Stories smartglasses.
Meta hopes that this physical retail location will garner more popularity for its suite of VR and augmented reality (AR) devices, as the company pushes further toward its goal of creating an interconnected metaverse. Meta will also use this location to gauge the public reception of its upcoming lightweight AR wearables. These wearables will be a non-invasive, easy-to-wear, fashionable entrance into the metaverse that is expected to be received well by customers.
