Local design studios Merrett Houmøller Architects and All & Nxthing work together to create a unique feeling of a traditional Moroccan home right in London. It is extended with a clay-plastered wall, exposed brickwork detail, and tile flooring. The Victorian home goes through a full renovation and it is inspired by the clients' travels. The renovated details continue to the internal courtyards as well.
Co-founder of Merrett Houmøller Architects, Robert Houmøller speaks to Dezeen about the design inspiration, stating "Our clients have travelled extensively in Morocco and the Mediterranean generally, and were inspired in many ways by the architecture and climate there. Our brief was to create tall, light-filled spaces, with Moroccan riads being a big influence on the overall form."
