FabRx, a London-based company, has come up with an inventive way of transforming candy-producing 3D printers into personalized medicine makers.
While the Magic Candy Factory 3D printer was originally developed to produce custom candy treats, the repurposed design from FabRx introduces a new way for medicine to be made, especially for sick children who are often resistant to take the remedies they need to get better. With the machine, a variety of uniquely shaped treats can be made, including medicinal tablets, capsules and chewables.
FabRx is now introducing its 3D printer for hospitals, clinics and pharmacies to the world on Kickstarter, with funds from backers going to support software development and the production of a working prototype of the modified Magic Candy Factory printer.
