Despite mainstream drivers' insistence on economical, gas-sipping cars, race-ready street cars like the recently revealed Maserati GranTurismo MC are still making it to market. Maserati admits that the GranTurismo MC is the speediest production car the Italian brand has ever sold in the U.S., boasting 450 horsepower and the ability to jet from zero to 60 in 4.9 seconds.
It isn't the speedy zero-to-60 time that's so special about the Maserati GranTurismo MC, however: It can shift gears faster than nearly any other full-automatic transmission on the market. You won't need catlike reflexes to rocket this sports car down the highway -- just put the pedal to the floor.
The GranTurismo MC also boasts a friction-reduction program, a diamondlike coating on all high-friction parts and a new exhaust system. It has a 6 percent improvement in fuel economy over its predecessors
