Though I’m against animal cruelty, I can’t deny the awe-inspiring spectacle that is these Martin Wittfooth illustrations. It’s unlikely that you’ll see exotic wildlife ignited in real life, which is what makes these paintings that much more mesmerizing. With smoke and flames emanating from the heads, tails, beaks and other body parts of these animals, viewers are treated to supernatural visuals that are perplexing, but command your attention nonetheless.
Martin Wittfooth is the talented visionary behind these images and he currently works and resides in Brooklyn, New York. His paintings often employ bleak color schemes, which contrasts well with the luminescence of the fire in each picture. He also frequently renders animal carcasses in a similarly sublime manner, usually having vegetation and flowers grow out from the remains of deceased creatures.
