The Mars Odyssey space suit is a design innovation by London textile designer Alexandra Lucas. Though no trips to Mars have been confirmed as of yet, Lucas is making sure that when the time comes, astronauts will venture out in style.
Lucas' Mars Odyssey project includes super chic space suits that are suitable for outer space and for fashion week runways. The suits are reported to be extra protective and feature six layers of safety features. These layers include temperature, oxygen and radiation maintenance, three pressure layers to combat the thin atmosphere as well as one sensory membrane layer.
In addition to their high functionality, the Mars Odyssey space suits also exhibit a chic exterior. The suits offer orange and gold accents set against a silver and white base.
