These machine gun typewriters elicit a personal reflection on the impact of words.
Quebed-based artist Eric Nado's series '‘metra littres’, features disassembled and vintage typewriters that have been transformed into weapons of destruction. These non-functioning objects depict the dramatic nature of both machines. The series is equal parts compelling and sculptural, painting the power of words as something destructive and disruptive. The artist's work focuses primarily on "salvaged and nostalgia-filled parts" that pays homage to a more industrial past. Nado engages his audience through collective memory by reconstructing objects with emotional attachments into something entirely different.
The series features 7 different objects with colors ranging from a vibrant yellow to soft blue. His reconstructive art series is an engaging and evocative example of the fusion of art and technology.
