Corbett Lyon did something with his money that most art-lovers only dream of: he built a new house for himself that would double as an art gallery and called it the Lyon Housemuseum.
In total, the building took a total of five years to design, two more to construct. The structure is a surprisingly functional life-as-usual abode for Corbett and his family. And while the gallery of displayed art features the work of some of Australia’s finest artists, the homework of his children and other domestic evidence can sometimes be spied around the Lyon Housemuseum as a testimony to the truly ‘arthouse’ nature of the building.
