The ‘Glacial Sofa’ brings visions of ice palaces to mind. I’m not usually drawn to Lucite as a material, but I like this.
What I find interesting is the juxtaposition of materials: hard and soft; cool and warm; smooth and nubby; transparent and opaque.
The sculptural rendering is the inspired work of Tokyo designer Yuki Tanaka. It was manufactured by Waazwiz.
Waazwiz has been manufacturing acrylic products for over three decades. The company takes pride in the high level of quality and quantity of recycled material that goes into their process. The end result is extremely transparent and weather-resistant.
At $16K US, I would expect no less.
