Micron's LPCAMM2 RAM is Smaller and More Efficient than LPDDR5

LPCAMM2 is a new type of memory module that uses LPDDR5X DRAM to deliver higher performance, lower power consumption, smaller form factor, and modularity for PCs. It is the first standard low-power compression attached memory module (LPCAMM2) in the industry, and it is available in capacities from 16GB to 64GB. Micron claims that LPCAMM2 can provide up to 71% better performance, 80% lower system standby power, and 64% space savings over SODIMM offerings. LPCAMM2 is also the first memory module that allows users to upgrade low power DRAM as their needs evolve.
Micron announced the LPCAMM2 product at CES 2024, and it is currently sampling with production expected in the first half of 2024. Micron has collaborated with key client PC OEMs and ecosystem enablers to design and develop the LPCAMM2 form factor, and it expects to see widespread adoption of LPCAMM2 in next-generation laptops that will benefit from its performance, power efficiency, and modularity. Micron has not disclosed the pricing of LPCAMM2 modules, but it is likely to be competitive with existing memory solutions in the market.
