These richly surreal paintings from Lisa Adams are like nothing you've ever seen before.
Lisa Adams is a self-taught Australian artist that works on her paintings six days of the week from her home and workshop in Queensland. When you peruse the gallery of her striking images, you'd be forgiven for thinking that these are heavily Photoshopped composites of real life photography, but you'd be wrong. Every single one of the images in Lisa Adams' gallery is done using oil paint, no camera or digital manipulation involved. The images that Adams puts together all seem to share a theme of unsettling surrealism with subtle messages of hope.
Alison Kubler, the Curator at the Queensland Art Museum said of Adams' work: "Lisa Adams creates images that are often unsettling, sometimes melancholy or by turns uplifting, but always affecting and richly atmospheric. The scale on which she works affords her involved and tightly realized paintings an intimacy that echoes the personal nature of so much of the subject matter."
