As American LGBT magazine Them reports, there are just "15 known lesbian-centric bars left standing across the entire United States"—which has prompted the Lesbian Bar Project to take action by fundraising to help these remaining establishments keep their doors open.
With the COVID-19 pandemic hitting bars especially hard, these safe spaces are at more risk than ever as business closures and capacity restrictions are expected to remain in place for some time to come. To support these businesses, Lesbian Bar Project is hosting a 30-day fundraiser in partnership with Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts organization.
Through the cause's website, supporters can learn more about the history of lesbian-centric spaces, and how they remain an important part of the LGBT community today. Those wishing to show their support can check out the participating bars on LesbianBarProject.com, where they can also donate until November 26th, 2020. Each donation with be split evenly among the participating bars.
