While Foster + Partners is an architectural firm in England, it also has input in and designs a variety of other lines and their lamp installation is one of those projects.
In collaboration with Lumina, the firm created lighting projects 'Dot' and 'Eva' -- the former is a pendant lamp while the latter is a tabletop lamp. Inspired by the architecture that they usually design, the 'Dot' lamp is minimalist in its aesthetic. It features a tall thin metal rod covered with a circular disc that does not look like a lamp, but can illuminate light quite far. The 'Eve' lamp is equally unique as it is encased in a glass jar with differently hued bases and the light bulb hangs from the top of the jar.
This lamp installation shows the necessity of intricacy and consistency across the board when it comes to producing products and projects -- despite the fact that the business' expertise may lie elsewhere.
